You know, if you think about it, from the time you could spell your name (maybe even before then), you started learning about math, history, and the alphabet… then you graduated from kindergarten and refined your knowledge in these subjects for another twelve years… then you may have spent another four or eight years or more building on your hard-earned base of knowledge to earn your baccalaureate, masters, or doctorate degrees… but think hard… were you ever taught the first thing about buying a home? More than half of the population in the United States owns a home and to my knowledge, there is not a high school in the country that teaches students what to expect when they are “on the market” for their first home. Given that purchasing a home is oftentimes a family’s single largest investment, it is unfortunate that so many people get their degree in purchasing a home from the school of hard knocks (experience).  

Over the past few years, our company has sold many homes. We have sold small homes, big homes, brick homes, stone homes, tall homes, short homes, and even a home with shag carpet (hey, the customer asked for it, so we installed it). Read the rest of this entry »

We are launching a Live Chat feature on our website this evening in hopes that it will further streamline and facilitate communication with our customers. Live Chat… you know… the little button you see on some websites these days that allows you to start an IM session with a real live person…

What do you think? Will people use this feature? Would you use it?

Personally, I prefer to use Live Chat tools when I am doing internet research. I would MUCH rather be on IM with someone than waiting to get connected to them by phone (while listening to poorly recorded renditions of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony). I do not want to give you the wrong impression, I must disclose that our phone system is AWESOME and does a great job making sure that people can get a hold of us easily… but for most websites, I have found that Live Chat is THE way to get questions answered quickly and easily.

The mere fact that you are reading this blog gives you bragging rights as a savvy and well-informed home-buyer… it is also an indicator that you likely drink way too much coffee and still have dirty dishes in the kitchen sink. Joking aside, isn’t the internet an amazing thing? You can learn more about homes, kitchen faucets, the newest and coolest home theater systems, the latest bathroom design fads, and even the reputation of your builder or real estate agent by riding the waves of Google et al (surfing the net). The internet is THE way to research buying a home… period.
