the-quality-of-our-homes

A home consists of many thousands of components that are each hand-assembled by many dozens of tradesmen. Without an organized and detailed quality control system, builders and their customers are left to discover many latent deficiencies down the road… some are minor… some are not.

While no hand built home can ever be perfect or without cosmetic blemish, we have developed a combination of systems and procedures that have helped us to achieve a level of quality standards that we have not seen matched by other homebuilders. While it is possible you will find a home you like better aesthetically, we believe you will be hard pressed to find a safer or better built home.

For example, our proprietary web-based project management software includes a system of integrated quality control checklists that currently include over 700 very detailed quality inspections that our staff must conduct on each home. Each project manager is held accountable for their thoroughness and each tradesman is required to meet our standards.  We have also developed relationships with licensed engineers and home inspectors who inspect each of our homes. These inspections may include onsite structural design and application inspections as well as onsite inspections of the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems among others. Even though we strive for perfection, our engineers find at least some kind of minor oversight during almost every such inspection. While we cannot promise you that all of our homes will be completely flawless, we can assure you that we try to achieve this standard with every home we build.

Even if you choose not to buy a Mollenhour home, we encourage you to ask your builder about his quality control systems. We also highly recommend that you ask your builder to have inspections performed by a licensed engineer (municipal codes inspectors are helpful, but our experience has shown that licensed engineers are necessary). Even the best homebuilders will overlook at least some details themselves and these details can sometimes create major problems… sometimes very quickly… sometimes many years later.
